Dr. Gurney was born in Portland, Oregon. He began his practice in 1977, following in his father's footsteps and practicing beside him for several years. Time spent away from his practice is spent with his wife and four children, three of whom are in college. He also enjoys fishing, camping with his family, and gardening. He joined the Coquille Valley Hospital medical staff in 1977.
