General Surgeon

Our facility is a growing and progressive, 25-bed Critical Access Hospital and co-located medical clinic facility (MOB) in a southwestern Oregon coastal valley, just 20 minutes from the Pacific Ocean.

The hospital offers a rather full scope of community hospital services for its size including acute care, a well-equipped 24-hour 7-bed emergency room, medical and surgical services, obstetrics with cozy birthing rooms, state-of-the-art medical imaging and laboratory facilities, respiratory care, physical therapy, Swing Bed services, skilled care programs, outpatient day surgery and a home health care service. The services we offer make Coquille Valley Hospital a one-stop resource.

The medical staff is composed of several family practice physicians, a general surgeon, an orthopedic surgeon and several visiting specialty physicians from nearby areas. The average daily census is 6 patients.

Risk/Project Manager

Department: Administration
Shift: Days
Status: Full-Time, 40 HPW
Base Range of Pay: DOE
FLSA: Exempt

Qualifications:  Knowledge of State, federal, and accreditation requirements including but not limited to: CMS Conditions of Participation for acute care and critical access hospitals, State healthcare rules and statutes, and state licensing requirements preferred. General knowledge in other regulatory areas such as, OSHA, EMTALA, and HIPPA preferred.  Experience and knowledge in use of administrative and quality data, with statistical validity preferred.  

Education:  Graduate of accredited State Board of Nursing program or a bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience.
 
Licenses/Certifications:  Registered Nurse, and Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Responsible for leadership in the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of the Patient Experience, including Press Ganey reporting and follow up, HCHAPPS reporting and follow up, Process Improvement.

Investigates events, claims and lawsuits presented against caregivers, physicians and the hospital. Ensures collaboration and mitigation of risk as it relates to the hospitals insurance coverage against liability and casualty loss.

Collaborates with clinical and non-clinical staff, medical staff and the management team to investigate and respond to patient complaints/grievances in compliance with patient grievance policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Analyzes data and reports findings related to risk strategies.  Serves as a representative of Senior Management Team, Hospital QPRC Committee, Nursing Quality Team, and Patient Safety.

Participates in development of processes/systems designed to share and recognize performance improvements and compliance for the hospital and clinics.

Registered Nurse (Home Health)

Department: Home Health
Shift: Days/On-Call
Status: Full-Time, 40 HPW

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:  Recommend at least one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Licenses/Certifications: Current license by the State of Oregon as a professional Registered Nurse

Duties and Responsibilities:
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Home Health.  The Registered Nurse serves as a liaison nurse between the hospital and the community initiating, establishing and evaluating nursing services to patients in their homes.  He/she functions as an active member of the Home Health team.  The professional nursing services provided are skills given in accordance with the physician’s orders.  Skilled nursing includes duties as related to the patient’s care at home.

Home Health Manager

Qualifications:
Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not necessary.
Experience: Broad based, “hands on” experience in the principles of program planning and the delivery of patient care.  3+ years of progressive management/supervisory experience in an acute healthcare facility or Critical Access Hospital.  Should be able to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, excellent interpersonal relationships and communication skills, clinical acumen, advanced knowledge of quality and process improvement and the ability to apply sound hospital financial and administrative principles. 
Licenses/Certifications:  Current RN license within the state of practice; must be eligible for Oregon RN licensure.  Current BLS within 30 days of hire.

Housekeeper/Environmental Service Worker

Qualifications/Experience: Skilled in use of manual and power cleaning equipment. Data and record keeping skills (basic computer skills). Good communication skills (both written and verbal). Previous experience in commercial institutional or healthcare cleaning preferred.

OR Registered Nurse (Casual On-call, all shifts)

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, an associate's degree in nursing (A.D.N.), or bachelor’s degree in nursing (B.S.N.).

Experience: 2 years staff RN experience required and experience as OR RN in surgical services a plus. Must have desire to work in OR/surgical environment.

Licenses/Certifications:  Current Oregon RN License or ability to obtain OR RN licensure, ACLS, TEAM.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates skills and ability to learn operating room procedures, endoscopic procedures, and recovery room duties. Ability to work well in a small, confined department. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, physicians and patients. Because of the demands for 24-hour operating room coverage, must be able to take call on a very flexible schedule. Must have 20-25 minute response time when called in.

Certified Nursing Assistant II

Shift: Night
Status: Full-time, Part-time, Casual/ On call

Qualifications:
Education: Successfully completed a State established or other training program that meets the CNA II or equivalent requirements and certified as such by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Experience: Knowledge of direct patient care practices to provide personal care and help with activities of daily living to patients in an acute care setting.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in detail and perform designated clerical assistant functions.  Must have communication and interpersonal skills in relating to public and peers.  Maintains professional appearance.  Must be willing to work weekends on a rotating basis.

Licenses/Certifications: Current license as a CNA II issued by the state of Oregon.  Must have current BLS within 30 days of hire.

Cook

Position: Cook
Job Location: Coquille Valley Hospital

Shift:  All

FLSA:  Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
Prepares, seasons and cooks meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, soups, desserts, etc. Apportions servings; performs related duties.

Qualifications:
Education: Ability to read, speak, write and follow oral and written directions. Course work may
include food preparation, sanitation and hygiene, methods of cooking, food purchasing,
estimating food requirements, management, storage of food and supplies.

Experience: At least two (2) years experience as a cook in hotel, hospital, school or restaurant.

Job Knowledge: Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities and be familiar with
seasonings required and cooking times involved. Must have firsthand knowledge of cooking characteristics of various cuts of meats and know names and contents of various types of dishes. Must be able to make simple estimates relative to quantities of food required.

Payroll Specialist

Department: Finance
Shift: Days
Status: Full-Time, 40 HPW

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Qualifications:  This position requires a high school diploma and three years of related experience in an accounting function. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.  Must have knowledge of payroll regulations as they apply to Federal and State laws with regard to overtime, tax withholding and other regulations as they apply.

Education:  High School diploma/GED required.  College coursework or vocational/technical training preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 

  • Reviews, analyzes and checks payroll forms and reports for accuracy and makes necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • Processes payroll distribution, direct deposit
  • Researches, analyzes and resolves payroll-related problems or questions.
  • Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations utilizing knowledge of state and federal policies.
  • Compiles financial, tax and payroll reports for both internal and external purpose; submits to supervisor for review.
  • Issues W-2 Wage and Tax Statement reprints.
  • Processes and maintains W-4 tax data and changes in personal data.
  • Payroll specialist will assist the financial staff in various special tasks as assigned when needed.

Staffing Specialist

Department: Nursing Services
Shift: Days

Qualifications: Scheduling/Staffing experience strongly preferred. Must have working knowledge of staffing/scheduling office systems and customer service.  Skills in problem solving, organizing and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.  Must be proficient with computer/keyboarding skills including MS office applications.

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent required.  CNA or Unit Coordinator experience preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 

  • Partner with managers to ensure consistent and balance staffing or schedules on a 24 –hour basis.
  • Maintain Staffing/Scheduling records. Accurately document all changes to schedule in staffing and scheduling system.
  • Interpret and accurately apply and follow all hospital policies and bargaining unit agreements.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and managers.
  • May prepare, input and maintain monthly schedules for assigned units.
  • May approve time/off education requests when doing scheduling.
  • Provide meaningful and complete reports as requested.
  • May function as a resource to nursing managers for efficient use of scheduling system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
