Registered Nurse Supervisor

Job Title: Nurse Supervisor
Department: Nursing Services
Shift: Days (7 am – 3:30 pm) or Evenings (2 pm – 10:30 pm) and On-Call
Status: Permanent, Full-Time, 40 HPW
FLSA: Exempt

Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not necessary.
Experience: Five (5) years RN experience with 2 years in medical/surgical care.  Some experience in OB, ER and/or ICU preferred.  2+ years of progressive nursing management/supervisory experience in an acute healthcare facility or Critical Access Hospital.  Knowledge of professional nursing theory, principles, and practices to provide direct patient care appropriate to population of specialty.  Sound leadership and superb interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience: Licenses/Certifications:  Current RN license within the state of practice; must be eligible for Oregon RN licensure.  Current BLS within 30 days of hire.


Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing Services as a member of the Nursing Administration Team and is operationally responsible to share in providing managerial support for the assigned shift nursing staff.  Responsible for assuring that patient care departments appropriate to the shift assigned are met in accordance with hospital guidelines and congruent with the mission of Coquille Valley Hospital.  Patient care departments include but are not limited to med/surg and swing bed, emergency, and obstetrics.  Through constant interaction with staff nurses and charge nurses, the RN Supervisor assists in developing and leading staff in the philosophy, purpose, policies and standards of practice excellence of these departments, fosters continuing quality assessment and improvement of patient care delivery processes and outcomes, participation in risk management, infection control and other functions required of Critical Access Hospitals, develops and participates in education and training programs (including those for skills and competency development).  Identifies problem areas in nursing department, such as understaffing, absenteeism, and wastefulness, and takes corrective action. Prepares work schedule and assigns duties to nursing staff for efficient use of personnel.  Recommends personnel policies, works with and maintains close coordination with the Director of Nursing, Medical Staff and all other hospital departments.  Demonstrates clinical, organizational and communication skills in dealing with patients, families and other health care workers.  As necessary, RN Supervisor will provide direct nursing care on any service in the hospital. SHIFT                 Days, varying shifts 6:00am -6:30 pm, 40HPW

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Interacts with patients, families, and visitors appropriately and professionally.  Registers outpatients, inpatient and Emergency Department patients. Collects patient demographic and insurance information accurately and enters information into the computer.  Accurately completes all registration forms, and distributes information to ancillary departments

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma, or equivalent.  Previous experience in medical office or hospital  preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interacts with and greets patients, families, and visitors in an appropriate and professional manner.
Registers all patient types, and collects demographics and insurance information to ensure accurate patient record, and correct  billing information.
Distributes forms and consents to appropriate departments.
Obtains and interprets insurance benefits and prior authorization.
Applies benefit information to determine patient copays/patient responsibility.
Answers  the telephone in courteous and professional manner.
Processes daily bank deposits, maintains cash drawer, accepts patient payments and writes up receipts.
Understands use and disclosure of protected health information, or PHI.
Other duties as assigned.

The Admitting Clerk will be expected to uphold the mission statement and values of Coquille Valley Hospital.  He/she is expected and encouraged to continue to learn by experiencing procedures by observation, or interacting with other staff and seminars as available.

Registered Nurse (Home Health)

Department: Home Health
Shift: Days/On-Call
Status: Full-Time, 40 HPW

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:  Recommend at least one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Licenses/Certifications: Current license by the State of Oregon as a professional Registered Nurse

Duties and Responsibilities:
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Home Health.  The Registered Nurse serves as a liaison nurse between the hospital and the community initiating, establishing and evaluating nursing services to patients in their homes.  He/she functions as an active member of the Home Health team.  The professional nursing services provided are skills given in accordance with the physician’s orders.  Skilled nursing includes duties as related to the patient’s care at home.

Home Health Manager

Qualifications:
Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not necessary.
Experience: Broad based, “hands on” experience in the principles of program planning and the delivery of patient care.  3+ years of progressive management/supervisory experience in an acute healthcare facility or Critical Access Hospital.  Should be able to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, excellent interpersonal relationships and communication skills, clinical acumen, advanced knowledge of quality and process improvement and the ability to apply sound hospital financial and administrative principles. 
Licenses/Certifications:  Current RN license within the state of practice; must be eligible for Oregon RN licensure.  Current BLS within 30 days of hire.

OR Registered Nurse (Casual On-call, all shifts)

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, an associate's degree in nursing (A.D.N.), or bachelor’s degree in nursing (B.S.N.).

Experience: 2 years staff RN experience required and experience as OR RN in surgical services a plus. Must have desire to work in OR/surgical environment.

Licenses/Certifications:  Current Oregon RN License or ability to obtain OR RN licensure, ACLS, TEAM.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates skills and ability to learn operating room procedures, endoscopic procedures, and recovery room duties. Ability to work well in a small, confined department. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, physicians and patients. Because of the demands for 24-hour operating room coverage, must be able to take call on a very flexible schedule. Must have 20-25 minute response time when called in.

Certified Nursing Assistant II

Shift: Night
Status: Full-time, Part-time, Casual/ On call

Qualifications:
Education: Successfully completed a State established or other training program that meets the CNA II or equivalent requirements and certified as such by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Experience: Knowledge of direct patient care practices to provide personal care and help with activities of daily living to patients in an acute care setting.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in detail and perform designated clerical assistant functions.  Must have communication and interpersonal skills in relating to public and peers.  Maintains professional appearance.  Must be willing to work weekends on a rotating basis.

Licenses/Certifications: Current license as a CNA II issued by the state of Oregon.  Must have current BLS within 30 days of hire.
