Dr, Gregory Saunders, M.D., M.P.H.
FACS (Fellow of the American College of
Surgeons)
General Surgeon,
Coquille Valley Hospital has a new general surgeon. Dr. Gregory Saunders
relocated from Lincoln City, where he was on staff at Samaritan North Lincoln
Hospital. Dr Saunders was a member of the Armed Forces and received a
scholarship from the Air Force, attending medical school at Loma Linda
University in Southern California.
He also trained at Pontiac General Hospital, Pontiac Michigan, which he
completed his general surgery residency training in 1990. Continuing in the
footsteps of his parents, he spent 10 years in Nigeria, where he was
instrumental in establishing an internship and residency program.
He is the father of three sons and one daughter, one daughter-in-law and two
grandsons and has been married to Kathy for 28 years. Needless to say, his
family, faith and missionary medical support is first of foremost, but he and
his wife have a second love, Preventive/Lifestyle Medicine. CHIP (Coronary
Health Improvement Project), allows the Saunders to counsel patients with an aim
toward helping them make better lifestyle choices and thereby reduce their risk
factors for the lifestyle related diseases that have become predominant in our
society.
The CHIP Program is designed to teach you how to eat right, exercise
properly, and reduce your meat intake, teaching you and I that less, not more,
is necessary to achieve optimal health. For more information, please ask your
doctor to give you a referral or contact Dr. Saunders directly.
