As a family nurse practitioner, Juli Schurmann cares for patients at all ages and stages of life, from infancy through the senior years. Optimistic and caring, she is patient-focused and wants to ensure everyone she treats has a comfortable and positive experience.
“I want to work with patients to achieve the goals they have—healthcare and otherwise—and help them reach and maintain optimal health and enjoy life,” she says.
For Juli, working in the field of primary care means constantly learning and exploring the various areas of medicine. She provides everything from acute care to chronic disease management and well-baby checks to women’s care.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Juli was a nurse for 16 years. Having worked all over the Pacific Northwest and California in a range of situations and medical settings, she has helped patients facing a variety of difficult situations.
“I’ve worked with homeless people, with people without insurance who don’t get the care they should, with immigrants, and with people ‘who don’t like going to the doctor.’ My response is, ‘I’m not a doctor, I’m a nurse practitioner,’” she says.
Juli is a native Oregonian, hailing from Portland. She attended undergraduate and graduate school at the University of Washington and served in the U.S. Navy for more than three years.
She loves living in a small town and getting to know her neighbors. In her free time, she enjoys being out in nature, reading, playing solitaire, walking, biking, sightseeing and cooking.
