Infusions, Transfusions and Injections

The health team at Coquille Valley Hospital is well-experienced in administering infusions, transfusions or injections should a patient require such therapy based on certain conditions or diseases.

During infusion therapy, medications are delivered directly into your vein through a needle or catheter. Infusions are used to treat patients when oral or injectable treatments aren’t effective. Infusion services also involve intravenous (IV) infusion of blood products given by injection.

Transfusion services include patient testing, as well as the supply of blood and blood products to patients requiring transfusions. Transfusions are often administered to patients who are seriously injured, or who have medical conditions, such as anemia, blood-related cancers or kidney disease.
