Meet Vanessa

As a family nurse practitioner, Vanessa Mohrbacher makes it her mission to provide personalized care for individuals and families.

“When a patient comes to see me, I want them to feel heard. My goal is to build trust with my patients and their families and develop an honest, professional relationship,” she says.

Nursing has been a lifelong goal for Vanessa, beginning in the fourth grade when she had the privilege of helping her family care for her grandparents.

“Living with my grandparents sparked my passion for nursing. It wasn’t long before I knew I wanted to become a nurse practitioner,” she says.

Vanessa earned the highest level of nursing training, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Caring and positive, Vanessa is dedicated to her work as a rural, community health care provider. Her nursing background includes inpatient rehabilitation, transitional care, ambulatory care and home health services, for which she developed a passion for wound care.

“Wound care became my passion early in my nursing career; it has been a long-term goal of mine to become a wound care provider. I enjoy bringing a broad perspective to each patient I see, assessing each patient as a whole and bringing in a primary care frame of mind in the wound care setting,” she says.

Collaborating with our wound care registered nurse and medical assistant, Vanessa provides holistic management of patients with wounds. For example, malnutrition can significantly impair the wound healing process. Each patient is assessed with a nutritional screening, then provided education regarding nutrition during wound care. If needed, the patient is referred to a dietician.

Vanessa’s nurse practitioner clinical experiences include pediatrics, family medicine, women’s health, and emergency care.

“Throughout my nursing profession, I’ve been fortunate to work in areas that have allowed me to build relationships with patients and their caregivers. I truly enjoy getting to know my patients and those who care for them. Working in a rural community has opened my eyes to the importance of effective, proactive care and patient education.”

Vanessa and her husband grew up in rural communities in the upper Midwest and Great Lakes regions. They moved to the southern Oregon Coast in 2014 and fell in love with the area. They enjoy spending time at the beach, running, hiking, biking and camping.
